Alex

Hey there, I'm Alex from Hamburg, born in 1988. I'm gay and have been living with HIV since 2018.
I'm here for you if you need someone to talk to or have questions about living with HIV.
I’m in an open relationship and got sick a few weeks after a date. Thanks to Dr. Google, I had a hunch it wasn’t just the flu. My doctor confirmed it with a positive test result, and I fell into a deep hole. I was overwhelmed with guilt and self-loathing, and terrified of infecting my husband or anyone else. The diagnosis left me feeling lost and full of questions.
I reached out to a guy I didn’t know at the time but who was openly living positively. Thankfully, he took me under his wing, answered my questions, and eased many of my worries. He also encouraged me to talk to my family and friends about the diagnosis—and thank goodness I did! My husband, friends, and family stood by me and were a great support.
Today, I’m doing really well with the diagnosis. I live a completely normal life, just like anyone else, and work in the finance industry. In my free time, I love hanging out with friends. Since I can’t sit still for long, I enjoy traveling—whether it’s hiking trips, weekend getaways, or beach vacations. Thanks to effective medication, even my sex life is perfectly normal.
Send me a message, and we can arrange a call or a walk. I’d love to listen, answer your questions, and give you tips on where to turn if needed. Anyone can reach out to me—no matter your gender, age, skin color, or anything else. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
By the way, we buddies are bound by confidentiality. Everything you share with me stays between us!
